What a Professional Under-Sink RO Installation Includes
A successful installation is not simply placing filters in a cabinet. The system needs suitable feed pressure, enough service space, a stable mounting location, a storage tank that can be accessed, a dedicated faucet location, correctly routed tubing, and appropriate feed-water and drain connections. Planning these details first makes future filter service and leak inspection much easier.
Before installation
Water Fixers reviews the water source, the reason you want RO, available cabinet space, nearby plumbing, faucet or air-gap requirements where applicable, electrical needs for optional equipment, and the path to an icemaker if one is being considered. If treatment selection depends on a specific water-quality concern, testing may be recommended before the system is chosen.
New RO installation
For a home without RO, we help select compatible equipment and plan the full installation: filters, membrane, tank, faucet, feed connection, drain connection, tubing, valves, and accessible service clearances.
Replacing existing equipment
Existing holes or tubing do not automatically make a new system compatible. Water Fixers checks the old faucet, drain connection, feed valve, tank, tubing route, and cabinet condition before deciding what can reasonably remain.

- Secure filter and membrane mounting with room to remove housings and cartridges.
- A storage tank positioned so its valve and air-charge point remain accessible.
- A dedicated drinking-water faucet mounted securely and sealed appropriately.

- RO-rated tubing routed without kinks, sharp bends, abrasion, or stress on fittings.
- A drain connection placed and secured according to the system and plumbing configuration.
- Optional refrigerator connection only after distance, pressure, and appliance requirements are considered.
Startup and homeowner handoff
After assembly, the system should be flushed according to its instructions, repressurized, and observed for leaks. Water Fixers checks faucet flow, tank behavior, drain flow, and automatic shutoff operation where applicable. We explain the initial fill-and-flush process, identify the system shutoff, and document the equipment so future filters are easier to obtain.
Service after installation
Filter timing varies with water use, source water, cartridge capacity, and manufacturer guidance. Periodic care can also include sanitation, tank-pressure evaluation, tubing and fitting inspection, faucet checks, and membrane performance testing. Water Fixers provides ongoing RO maintenance and repair support, so a new system does not become unsupported equipment under the sink.

Can RO work with a water softener?
Yes. They solve different problems: softening addresses hardness throughout the home, while RO provides point-of-use drinking-water treatment.
Will I still need maintenance after installation?
Yes. Filters and membranes are consumable components, and periodic inspection and sanitation help keep the system serviceable.
