WATER FIXERS • BETTER WATER, BACKED BY A LOCAL TEAM

Better water. Less bottle buying.

The next case of water is a small purchase. Buying it again and again can become a significant part of the household budget.

A Water Fixers reverse osmosis system gives you another way to plan: own the equipment, maintain it, and have a local team to call for filters and repairs.

Bottles or a system you own? Explore Water Fixers RO options, ongoing care and local support. CPS-3T illustrated; the cost example below uses the SPS-3T package.

The quick answer: If you regularly buy drinking water, compare the recurring bill with the installed price and upkeep of an RO system. Water Fixers combines quality-focused component selection, professional installation and ongoing local service. The right choice depends on your actual use, water conditions and complete quotes.

What could five years of drinking water cost?

Start with the same amount of water. Our illustration uses 30 US gallons per calendar month: 360 gallons per year and 1,800 gallons over five years.

Five years of drinking water: same 1,800-gallon target
Option Basis used Five-year subtotal
Water Fixers SPS-3T ownership example $399.99 package + five $234.98 filter services + one $79.99 membrane allowance $1,654.88
Store-bought bottled water 341 whole cases of 40 × 16.9 fl oz bottles at $5.97 per case $2,035.77
Culligan bottled-water delivery, Santa Maria Published 30-gallon plan at $42 per month × 60 months $2,520.00
Primo purified-water delivery scenario, ZIP 93455 Six $9.49 five-gallon bottles + one $14.99 delivery per calendar month × 60 months $4,315.80

These are illustrative price subtotals, before unquoted costs. The Water Fixers example includes the listed system package and planned professional filter care. Installation, source-water and energy costs, tax, additional repairs and price changes are not added. Delivery plans may have fuel, cooler, setup or other charges; deposits are separate. Exact package inclusions and compatible components are confirmed in a written quote.

Water Fixers is featured with the local comparison, planned filter care and three treatment roles. Select the graphic to read it at full size.

In this example, the Water Fixers subtotal is $865.12 below the Culligan bottled-delivery subtotal and $2,660.92 below the Primo delivery scenario. The difference from the store-bought case example is $380.89. Those are differences between the listed subtotals, before unquoted costs—not guaranteed savings.

That distinction helps you make a useful decision. A low-cost store case can be competitive for a household that buys little water. Delivery can offer convenience. Ownership becomes worth comparing when repeat purchases, handling bottles and future service are all part of the decision.

Local prices are more useful than a national average

We checked the local Culligan pricing selector and Primo’s catalog for Santa Maria ZIP 93455. The published numbers show why a comparison should use the correct service area and the actual plan.

Published local plan prices observed November 3, 2026
Area 10 gallons/month 20 gallons/month 30 gallons/month Bottle-free cooler plan
Santa Maria $16.00 $30.00 $42.00 $39.90/month
San Luis Obispo $16.00 $30.00 $42.00 $39.90/month
Lompoc $14.50 $27.00 $37.50 $22.00/month

Culligan’s bottled plans list a $10 per-bottle deposit and exclude applicable fuel charges. The bottle-free plans list a 12-month contract. The local page describes a bottle-free cooler; it does not establish that this plan provides the same treatment as the Water Fixers RO example. Its published base rate would total $2,394 over five years in Santa Maria or San Luis Obispo, or $1,320 in Lompoc, if unchanged.

For Primo, the Santa Maria catalog showed $9.49 for a five-gallon purified-water bottle. Our illustration adds the FAQ’s $14.99 delivery fee once per calendar month. It assumes six bottles per month and excludes any unlisted extras. Subscription options may use two- or four-week schedules, which change the number of annual deliveries.

Check the billing period: a four-week bill occurs 13 times in 52 weeks. It should not be treated as just 12 monthly bills. Include cooler rental, recurring delivery charges and other applicable fees when comparing your own statement.

The everyday difference is more than the water bill

With an under-sink RO system, drinking water is available at the kitchen for glasses, reusable bottles and cooking. That can reduce the number of cases or large jugs you need to buy, carry and store.

To cover 1,800 gallons using the 40-count case in our example, buying whole cases would require 341 cases, or 13,640 individual 16.9-ounce bottles. That is a purchasing illustration; it does not assume every bottle is discarded or that owning an RO system eliminates all bottled-water use.

Keep the comparison practical. Bottled water can still be useful for travel, events and emergency supplies. The everyday question is how you want to supply the water you repeatedly use at home.

What the filters do—and why the membrane matters

Water Fixers’ price sheet includes 0.5-micron cartridge options. That is a fine-particle rating, rather than a promise to remove every dissolved substance. We confirm the supplied cartridge and its rating for the system selected.

Fine particles

Particle filtration helps capture sediment and other particles. The cartridge’s actual rating determines its role.

Better taste and odor

Activated carbon is used to reduce chlorine taste and odor. Additional chemical claims depend on the cartridge.

Beyond particles

An RO membrane adds separation of dissolved salts and other substances that particle filtration alone may leave behind.

The useful comparison is the exact system’s documented performance for your water. A competing RO system or bottled water may use similar treatment. Match any specific contaminant-reduction claim to the installed model and its performance data. CDC’s filter-selection guide explains why treatment methods and product labels matter.

Why choose a Water Fixers RO system?

A useful drinking-water system comes with a plan for the years after installation. Water Fixers focuses on the equipment, plumbing and service path together.

  • Quality-focused component selection: we source from trusted suppliers and match components to the intended configuration.
  • Professional installation: we consider cabinet space, pressure, tank and faucet placement, feed and drain connections, and future service access.
  • Repairable equipment: an individual tank, fitting, housing or faucet may be a practical repair when the rest of the system remains sound.
  • Local care after the sale: our team supports filter replacement, membrane evaluation and troubleshooting in Santa Maria and Central Coast communities.

Compare our seven options: CPS-3T, CPS-5T, SPS-3T, SPS-5T, EPS-3T, EPS-5T and UPS-5T. Choose by the supplied components, documented capabilities and household fit.

Plan for filters and evaluate the membrane separately

The listed three-stage service configuration totals $234.98 before tax: $89.98 in routine cartridges plus the $145 service charge. With the listed $79.99 24 GPD membrane, its service subtotal is $314.97. The membrane must be appropriate for the equipment and due for replacement.

The five-stage configuration is $304.96 before tax for routine filters and service, or $384.95 with that membrane. These are the configurations on the price sheet; the correct package for your selected model is confirmed when quoting.

A yearly check-in helps review due filters and system condition. Around year three, membrane age and performance can be reviewed separately. Three years is a review checkpoint, not an automatic replacement deadline. The five-year cost illustration allows for one membrane during the annual visit; actual replacement follows performance and applicable equipment requirements.

Make the comparison with your own household numbers

  1. Count what you buy. Use cases, bottle sizes or delivered gallons from recent receipts.
  2. Total the recurring charges. Include delivery, fuel and cooler fees, and use the correct billing frequency.
  3. Request an installed RO quote. Confirm the system, components, faucet, tank, plumbing work and tax.
  4. Add realistic upkeep. Include the correct filters, service, membrane allowance and relevant water or energy costs.
  5. Match the treatment goal. Review documented claims for the exact system and the water conditions at your home.

Bring Water Fixers a recent water receipt or delivery statement and tell us how the household uses drinking water. We can help compare an ownership plan with what you currently purchase.

Common questions about bottled water and RO

Is RO always cheaper than bottled water?

No. The answer depends on water use, the installed price, service needs and the alternatives you buy. The comparison above makes the assumptions visible so you can replace them with your own numbers.

Is a bottle-free cooler the same as an under-sink RO system?

Not automatically. Confirm its treatment method, included equipment, service, temperature features and contract terms. The local Culligan cooler price is listed separately for that reason.

Can I connect RO water to a refrigerator?

Ask Water Fixers to review the refrigerator’s requirements, tubing route, pressure and available flow as part of the installation plan.

Should I replace a working RO system from another company?

Start with an evaluation. If correct parts are available and the system remains practical to maintain, a repair or scheduled service may be the better decision.
